Why do we cook THAT over the holidays?
Renowned chef, Gina Neely, hosts this spectacular holiday series. Gina has a sparkling personality that glitters as bright as snowflakes. She will delve into the age-old question...Why do we cook “that” for the holiday? Let’s gather at some celebrities’ homes to find out. Is it tradition, habit, or history?
Gina is an adaptable cook and very excited to be shown how to cook specific dishes. She’s eager to learn the meaning of the dish, the origin, the culture. Gina, along with the viewers, will learn how to make the dish as well as its cultural significance and the traditions surrounding the celebrity's family history and customs. Gina's effervescent personality and love of family will make her welcome in celebrity homes and have celebrities eager to share their family's rich traditions. Gina is warm and enchanting just like the holiday spirit.
Gina will engage each celebrity and their families, while helping them prepare some of their customary holiday meals, culminating with a sit-down to enjoy the meal with the celebrity and their family and possibly partake in singing some holiday jingles and other cultural holiday traditions.
A one-hour old-fashioned holiday special that will highlight some much needed family traditions and showcase genuine holiday spirit. Gina will sleigh from one house to another to visit each group of celebrities and their families along with all their cultural diversity and special familial anecdotes. An episodic that starts after Thanksgiving and ends just before Christmas, although this fun family cooking show has potential to last through many holidays seasons (and not just Christmas). Gina Sleighs the Holidays. All year round.
Gina Sleighs the Holidays answers some specific cultural questions: What is the meaning behind the Italian 7 fishes? Why do Germans bake ChristmasStollen? What is the significance of Potato Latkes on Hanukah? Why are certain foods symbolic and put on the table for Kwaanza? Why are Black-Eyed Peas made for New Year's in the Southern States?
As they cook together in the kitchen, the celebrity and Gina learn, along with the viewers, why we cook/bake certain things for the holidays. Gina hopes to inspire younger generations to embrace their cultures and their holiday family traditions and hopes to inspire some new traditions as well.
All in the name of holiday spirit, she will find out why we make "that" for the holidays. Gina Sleighs the Holidays.
